Breast Lift Surgery

Breast lift surgery, or breast lift mastopexy, is a plastic surgery procedure that involves the lifting and firming of breasts that have experienced sagging or stretching. Many women experience breast changes throughout their lives, especially after pregnancy and breast feeding. Breasts will often loose firmness and volume and many women can feel self-conscious about this change in their appearance.

Breast lift surgery can restore breasts to their ‘former glory’ and the procedure is often performed in conjunction with a breast augmentation. The combined breast plastic surgery can increase bust size, increase firmness and volume and produce a more womanly, aesthetically pleasing bust line.

There are a number surgical procedure options when it comes to a breast lift mastopexy. The most common surgery involves 3 incisions – one around the nipple, one from the beneath the nipple to the crease under the breast, and one horizontal incision beneath the breast that follows the natural crease of the breast.

The breast lift surgery then involves the removal of excess breast skin and then the shifting up of the nipple and areola. Sensation is kept in the breast because the nipple and areola remain in tacked to the underlying tissues. Breast feeding is also possible after the mastopexy. Other breast lift surgery types may not require as many incisions and these variations can be discussed with your surgeon.
