Face Lift
Most people are familiar with the term “face lift” but a face lift is technically known as a Rhytidectomy which is derived from the work Rhytid, meaning wrinkle/wrinkles and Ectomy, which refers to the surgical removal of. Facelift surgery is a very common plastic surgery procedure amongst men and women as facelift surgery is able to give a person a more youthful physical appearance.
The processes involved in a face lift, or Rhytidectomy, include the removal of excess skin on the face, tightening of tissues that lie under the skin and then the repositioning of the face and neck skin. Many people are concerned about where the necessary incisions are made and how they will appear after the procedure. Traditionally face lift surgeryincisions are made around the ears and hairline, therefore hiding any scars in the faces natural creases but in most cases facelift scars are insignificant.
If you are considering a face lift it is important to remember that they work best on people with thin skin and good bone structure. If you want to get rid of the loose skin folds on your neck and cheek wrinkles then it may be time to consider a face lift.
If you’re concerned about nasolabial (the natural deep folds that you find running from each side of the nose to the corners of your mouth) or marionette lines (those wrinkles that are found around the mouth and chin area – often referred to as "frown lines") then a face lift may not be the procedure for you.
